The Town of Cottesloe has been working with Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) to investigate opportunities to create ‘Healthy Streets’ in Cottesloe.

In December 2023 residents were invited to participate in an online survey which looked at ways to create Healthy Streets in Cottesloe, focusing on Broome Street and Marmion Street (between Forrest Street and Grant Street). A concept development workshop was held in May 2024 to allow the community to provide input to determine a draft preferred design.

Council, at its July 2024 Ordinary Council Meeting, considered the feedback received from our community and noted a preferred Healthy Street design for both streets for further consultation. These identified a number of traffic calming treatments at mid-block and intersections to enhance safety and create a healthier environment for all users of Broome Street and Marmion Street.

Information from this stage of community consultation will be used to finalise a design concept to submit a funding proposal to Main Roads WA. Please note that this project will be largely funded by MRWA. Found within the project document library are traffic calming measure examples along Marine Parade (at Curtin Avenue), Railway Street (at Congdon Street and Napoleon Street) and Broome Street (at Eric Street) in Cottesloe. These illustrations also include examples within the City of Canning Local Government district.

The Healthy Street project survey has now closed. Thank you to everyone who had their say. Stay tuned for further updates on this project.
