The Town of Cottesloe has secured $4.175m from the Australian Government’s Active Transport Fund (ATF) to upgrade the existing footpath on Marine Parade (Curtin Avenue to North Street). The upgrade will be delivered in stages over a period of four years.
At the April 2025 Council Meeting, Council endorsed a concept plan and principles for public consultation to receive feedback prior to progressing to detailed design.
The Town is seeking feedback from all users of Marine Parade (whether walking, cycling or driving) on the shared path concept plan. The Town is also seeking views on on-road cycling on Marine Parade, and ideas on safety improvements that will be used for planning for future road upgrades.
Consultation on this project has now closed. Thank you to everyone who made a submission.
The project will involve widening and upgrading the current path to improve the safety of all users, and the accessibility of this popular path.
These are high demand corridors that connect major destinations.
Primary routes are vital to many types of bike riding: medium or long-distance commuting, recreational, training and tourism trips.
A shared path is a combined walk and cycle way used together by these two modes of active transport. Separated paths are ones that are either designated specifically for pedestrians or cyclists. A shared zone is a low speed area used by both pedestrians and cyclist which normally exist through highly pedestrianized places.
The Federal Government is funding approximately $4.2 Million and the Town is responsible for the remaining $200,000 of the total cost.

The survey will close on Thursday, 3 July 2025 at 5pm.
